Hydration Notes for Changing Routines
Water needs can vary from day to day. Warm weather, travel, exercise, alcohol, salty meals and busy schedules can all change how much fluid feels comfortable.
Hydration is more than a single number
Many foods and drinks contribute fluid. Soups, yoghurt, fruit, vegetables, water, sparkling water and unsweetened teas can all be part of the day.
Simple reminders
- Keep water visible at your desk or in your bag.
- Drink with meals and after activity.
- Choose mineral-containing foods such as vegetables, fruit, legumes, dairy or alternatives, nuts and seeds.
- In hot weather, plan fluids before you feel very thirsty.
